Dominic Hinde is a Sociologist, Writer and Occasional Journalist based in Glasgow, Scotland. Born in England, but resident in Scotland, Germany and Sweden through his life, he began writing professionally when still an undergrad student studying modern languages in Berlin, after which hevwent on to become an international reporter and correspondent in Northern Europe. At the same time he pursued a an academic career as a sociologist of media specialising in climate change, time, and modernity.

He studied for his PhD at the University of Edinburgh and as a guest researcher and research fellow in Uppsala, Sweden. He isalso a fellow of the Carson Center at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich and Visiting Lecturer at Malmö University in Sweden within the Sociology department. He has written two public books, Drifting North and A Utopia Like Any Other, and the academic book Journalism in the Anthropocene: Media, modernity and the world to come.

He speaks Swedish, German and French, and also translates journalism, plays, and creative writing from Swedish into English.
